Rafael Nadal is regarded as one of the best tennis players of all time and the Spaniard has 22 Grand Slam titles to defend this claim.
Before this year, Nadal was leading the race for the most Grand Slams with 22 Majors to his name, but the Serb levelled the Spaniard with his triumph in Melbourne and then overtook him with victories in Paris and New York.
Nadal believes that when it comes to numbers and statistics, the Serb is the greatest player of all time and there is no debate about it.
"I believe that numbers are numbers and statistics are statistics. In that sense, I think he (Djokovic) has better numbers than mine and that is indisputable," Nadal said in an interview with Spanish news outlet AS published on Wednesday.
"This is the truth. The rest are tastes, inspiration, sensations that one or the other may transmit to you, that you may like one or the other more.
"I think that with respect to titles, Djokovic is the best in history and there is nothing to discuss about that."
Nadal’s comments came a day after he revealed that he still hasn’t congratulated the 36-year-old on winning his record 24th Grand Slam.
Djokovic was praised for his unique achievement by current and former players but Nadal confirmed that he is yet to congratulate the 36-year-old.
"The truth is that I haven't sent any message to Djokovic yet out of pure ignorance. When you win something so important, from experience I know it's better to take the time to appreciate that message. I'll send it but I haven't done it yet," he told Movistar.
It must be noted that the Spaniard suffered an injury in the 2023 Australian Open in January and has not played since then while the date of his return is yet to be determined.
He also fell out of the world’s top 10 for the first time in his 20-year-long astounding career and is currently ranked World No. 237.
